After almost an year since his appointment as Kenya’s  High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Manoah Esipisu, was on Tuesday formally received by Queen Elizabeth II in London in style.

According to a tweet posted by the Royal Family, Mr. Esipisu will have regular one-on-one meetings with the Queen throughout her working week.

“The Queen has a very personal relationship with Kenya. In 1952, as Princess Elizabeth, Her Majesty visited Kenya at the start of a Commonwealth tour on behalf of her father, King George VI,” read the tweet.

“It was at Sagan Lodge, Kiganjo, that she learnt of her accession to the throne in 1952.”

The former State House Spokesman was nominated as Kenya’s envoy to the U.K by President Uhuru Kenyatta on July 24, 2018.

During his vetting in Parliament on August 2, 2018, Mr. Esipisu denied claims that he solicited funds for functions already paid for by government.

There was also a light moment as the legislators took Mr. Esipisu, who revealed that he was worth Ksh.100 million, to task over naming President Uhuru Kenyatta as his referee.

A seemingly confident Mr. Esipisu responded saying: “He was my primary supervisor for five years. That is why he is my referee. The committee chairman can help you get to him incase of any clarification.”
