Police in Makueni county are investigating a sodomy case at Mwaani secondary school barely a week after a similar case was reported in a Machakos orphanage.

It is alleged that a Form Two student at the school was taken ill after being sodomised last week by his Form Four colleague.

Makueni Deputy Police Commander Justus Kitetu confirmed the arrest of the student who is being detained at Makueni police station.

“We will arraign him in court tomorrow if the hospital report will indicate that the victim was sodomised,” said Kitetu.

It is alleged that the boy was assaulted on the night of Thursday, March 22, and the matter was reported the following day.

“The boy was taken at Makueni referral hospital complaining he was sick. That is when he told the doctor of the unfortunate incident that had happened”, said Kitetu.

This incident came barely a week after a Machakos orphanage was closed following reports that nine boys were sodomised by a cook in the institution.

According to Kenya Human Rights Commision (KHRC) which visited the institution, one boy who was interviewed revealed he had been sexually abused by the cook for close to three years.

Machakos county children’s department obtained a court order on Wednesday, March 20, and with the help of police officers, proceeded to close down the orphanage which is run by the Catholic Church.

The said cook was on Monday, March 25, arrested by the police and would be arraigned to answer to charges of sodomy.
