Did Uhuru visit Ruto’s office after the DP missed Magoha’s swearing in revenge for kicked out Echesa?

Hours after President Uhuru had witnessed the swearing in of Mr Wycliffe Ogalo and Prof George Magoha as Commissioner-General of Kenya Prisons and Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) respectively, he visited and held talks with Deputy President William Ruto at the latter’s office in Nairobi.

Present during the swearing-in ceremony of Prof George were Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, Chief of Staff and Head of Delivery Nzioka Waita, among others but DP Ruto was not there.

The agenda of the meeting between Uhuru and Ruto was not immediately clear but there were speculations raised after Mr Kenyatta paid the rare visit to the DP especially after he failed to attend the swearing.

Prof. George Magoha was nominated by President Uhuru Kenyatta after CS Amina Mohamed was moved to the sports docket to replace former CS Richard who was sacked.

Richard Echesa who is a close ally of the deputy president has on numerous occasions asked President Uhuru to give reasons why he sacked him, a topic the president has yet to comment about.

Rashid Echesa was appointed Sports Cabinet Secretary early last year under a cloud of questions about his academic credentials and character only to be dismissed by President Uhuru Kenyatta with rumours swirling earlier on about his exit.

In a wide-ranging interview with the Sunday Nation, Mr Echesa claims he was sacked because of his support for Deputy President William Ruto.

Deputy President William Ruto has Since been sucked into the row surrounding the sacking of Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa and many see it as the reason he missed Magoha’s swearing in.
