Brainy varsity students in a rioting spree ‘competitions’

Laikipia University, main campus has been closed indefinitely on Tuesday after rioting students turned violent causing huge losses to the college and the neighborhood.

The students allegedly accuse the university administration of mismanagement causing the Tuesday morning unrest and bashing with police.

Through a statement issued by the university, students have been asked to vacate the college premises by 1.00PM on Tuesday, 26th March, 2019.

“The 110th special Laikipia University Senate meeting held on 26th March, 2019 resolved to close the main campus with immediate effect following students unrest, engagement with police and subsequent destruction of property from within and without,” stated the statement seen by Daily Active.

In the fiery protest some students also torched a section of the University.

The angry students used logs and twigs to barricade the Nyahururu-Nakuru road causing traffic havoc.

In 2017 Laikipia University Nakuru Campus closed after students violently protested killing of a colleague by a speeding matatu on Nakuru-Nairobi road.

On the same note Kibabii University students destroyed property of unknown value during the riots that took place on Friday.

The students started the protests when one of their colleagues got injured in a car accident inside the university.

Kibabii University was also closed indefinitely thereafter.
