Raila’s Daughter Winnie Odinga Lands a Prestigious Job at Gor Mahia

Winnie Odinga, the last born child of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has been appointed as an executive member of Gor Mahia FC, with immediate effect.

The appointment was made on Monday by Gor chairman Ambrose Rachier. Winny will be the head of the club’s Media and Publicity Department.

Winnie has followed the footsteps of her dad in supporting Gor Mahia and has been attending matches for a very long time.

She also accompanied her dad to Liverpool in November last year when Gor played Everton FC in a historic clash sponsored by Sportpesa.

Even though she has little or no experience in her new job, the 28 year old lady holds a Double Majors Degree in International Business and Corporate Communications from Philadelphia, United States.

This gives her the technical know how of professionally delivering on her new duties. And fans expect her to deliver.

Her first job will be to ensure fans turn out in large numbers on 7th April when Gor takes on Morocco’s Berkane in the CAF Confederations Cup Quarter Finals.

But will the princess be able to withstand the Gor Mahia pressure? This is a club with the most volatile fans in Africa. Well, despite being Raila’s daughter, Winnie recently demonstrated that she is not ready to be bullied. Just check the Tweet below:

Well, that is savagery. She will need this ‘goonism’ if she is to succeed at Gor Mahia.

Winnie meant headlines last year after she accompanied her dad to a UN conference in Ethiopia. It was later revealed that she is in fact her dad’s personal assistant.

But that is not really news since Winnie publicly revealed in a past interview with the Standard that she works for her dad:

“I work for my dad. I have worked for him for as long as I can remember. I’m his bodyguard, his briefcase carrier, travel companion or even driver if need be.” She said when she was asked if she has an actual job.

It will be interesting to see how she will balance between working at Gor Mahia and traversing the continent with her dad.
