Kisii Mother has been arrested after she burned her 11 years old daughter after she allegedly stole sh 2000.
The suspected was Monday detained at Kisii Police station while the minor was rushed to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital for medical attention.
The incident took place at Mwamosioma location Kitutu central sub-county. The minor is a class five pupil at Nyabinge Primary school.
According to the Nyabinge Primary school head-teacher Julius Otiso Ocharo, the girl was in deep pain, that’s when he interrogated her upon, which the minor narrated what transpired that previous night.
“I noticed something strange with the girl, that’s when I called her and she told me how her mother burned her using a stick,” the head-teacher said.
According to the area Chief, Lawrence Omari, he received a call from the school where the minor is attending. “I was called by the head-teacher , I responded immediately reaching at school I found the minor girl in a deep pain,” he said.
According to Mr Omari, when the mother to the minor was summoned to school, she said the girl had stolen KSh2,000.
Confirming the incident, Kisii County Police commander Martin Kibet said the suspect Norah Rangondi will be arraigned in relation to the crime. “Burning children is not the right way to discipline children,” Mr Kibet said.
The police boss acknowledged they have launched investigations into the matter and at the same time cautioned parents to be careful in the manner they administer discipline to their children.
The woman will be aligned to court tomorrow .
