The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) on Monday opened a new cyber wing at the Child Protection Unit.
The new wing will support the investigators and other care specialists to tackle issues of serious child abuses in the country.
Speaking during the occasion, the DCI Director, George Kinoti, thanked the British High Commission in Kenya, UNODC and other development partners for their support.
The named institutions helped in capacity building, mentorship and resource mobilization.
The cyber wing, which is the first in Africa, was announced during the UK High Commissioner to Kenya, Nic Hailey’s visit to the DCI headquarters.
The launch was also attended by UNODC Regional Representative, Amado Philip Andres and UNICEF Deputy Representative, Patrizia DiGiovanni.
