Cabinet minister of Kisii County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Culture, Sports, Youth, and Social Services Duke Mainga has been suspended.
Nation reports that the 27-year-old minister was accused of sabotage and misconduct.
According to the publication, Kisii Governor James Ongwae revealed that Mainga would be required to explain his conduct at a later date.
The governor revealed that he had suspended Mainga over his childish behaviour.
However, Ongwae did not disclose what the young minister did to warrant a suspension.
“We cannot have executives behaving childishly. Let it be very clear, I have suspended him not sacked,” Ongwae stated.
Sources privy to the matter divulged that Mainga had allowed free access to Gusii Stadium, a clear contravention of county government regulations.
The youthful minister was a former student leader at Kisii University.
He vied for the Bomachoge Borabu parliamentary seat and lost.
Mainga was picked as a CECM two months after the elections.
