The age-old narrative antagonizing wife and mother-in-law takes a new form, and with these two it was the front seat. For some reason, sitting ‘shot-gun’ comes with some prestige.

An unidentified woman shared her story on a Facebook group, Rant HQ, explaining that her mother-in-law had sat in the front seat of their car when they decided to go for a family outing.

She revealed that she immediately got angry, went back into the house and removed her clothes, refusing to go for the family outing.

“My mother in-law is in my house on a visit, last week Sunday we decide to take her out together with the children, to my surprise , before we could come out she was already in the front seat of the car when I saw this I went back and pulled my clothes,” she said.

According to the woman, she told her husband about it and he went to talk to his mother who in turn also got angry, and refused to go out too.

The wife explained that her mother-in-law has refused to eat ever since then and she is not speaking to her. According to the woman she had done nothing wrong by refusing to go on the family trip.

“His son talked to her and she got angrier and changed her clothes too. Since then she neither eats nor talks to anyone. Please am I wrong? Am I suppose to sit at the back? For those of you condemning me put yourself in my shoe,” she added.

She also stated that her husband’s elder brother had done the same when he came to visit and she kept quiet then. The woman claimed that she is the owner of the car, and she believes she should not be treated as such.

“The front seat isn’t the issue when his elder brother visited he put on this same attitude and I let it go now the mother, what do they take me for? They think their son owns everything but they are wrong. The car belongs to me but my hubby likes riding it than his,” she went on.
