Storm hits the Supreme Court as top official is probed for Threatening to Shoot Guard

Police have launched official investigations into a complaint filed by a security guard against top supreme court official, Justice Mohammed Ibrahim for threatening to shoot him.

Charles Onguso, the guard and Ronald Ayiera, the owner and Director of Rans Security Services, reported the altercation at Spring Valley Police Station under OB number 03/21/3/2019.

The guard accused the judge of losing his temper during a heated disagreement at his Spring Valley home before brandishing the gun and chasing him away.

The security company’s lawyer, Kennedy Nyambega, stated that Ibrahim had called the firm’s director around midnight, demanding that the guard assigned to his house be changed with immediate effect.

“The director had to wake up and look for another guard, whom he took to the house,” Nyambega told papers.

“By the time the two got there, the judge was very angry. During the shouting, he whipped out a pistol and chased them away,” he added.

Confirming that there was a disagreement, Justice Ibrahim, however, denied brandishing a gun.

“I don’t even have a firearm license, and neither do I own a gun,” he told the Nation. “I believe that it’s out of that exchange that the supervisor thought I was threatening him and went to file a report with the police. I have no reason at all to threaten a watchman. I have no gun and I have never had one.”

Ibrahim disclosed to a locla paper that he confronted the guard because he had been allowing strangers to use a toilet in his compound without permission.

“When I asked him, he was rude but I left after telling him to leave my compound,” Ibrahim told reporters.

The lawyer disputed the judge’s explanation, arguing that his client would not rush to a police station in the wee hours of the morning without a valid reason.

“Someone cannot be mad to record a statement at 4am. These are security guards and they know
what a gun looks like. Ask the judge if his house was under any private security at night, and if not, why?” he responded.

Spring Valley police officers have since escalated the matter to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Office in Gigiri due to the nature of the investigations.
