Payback time; Jack Grealish likes a tweet confirming Birminghams’s points deduction

Jack Grealish has ‘liked’ a tweet confirming Birmingham have been hit with a points deduction for breaching FFP rules over the past three seasons.

The Championship side currently sit 13th in the table but are set to be dragged into a relegation battle when they are stripped of nine points.

An independent disciplinary commission met earlier this week to settle the case, according to the Birmingham Mail.Football fans have been reacting to the news on social media, and many have noticed that Grealish has ‘liked’ a tweet confirming the points deduction.

The Aston Villa midfielder was punched by Birmingham City fan Paul Mitchell during a match between the two sides earlier this month.

The 27-year-old ran onto the pitch and landed a blow to the back of Grealish’s head before he was tackled to the ground by a steward and then arrested.

Mitchell has been jailed for 14 weeks after pleading guilty to the assault and for illegally entering the field of play.

He was also ordered to pay Grealish £100 compensation, a £115 victim surcharge, and £135 in costs and was banned from football for ten years.

Birmingham City also opted to hand Mitchell a life-time ban.
