Nairobi County issues warning to kabandaski lovers following cholera outbreak

The ministry of health Nairobi county has raised the alarm over a cholera outbreak.

Health director Lucia Koyio has directed referral hospitals to reactivate their treatment units.

“In this regard, I am requesting all referral hospitals to reactivate their cholera treatment units to prevent the spread of the disease,” a statement read.

She further directed all subcounties to be on high alert and treat all suspected cases as cholera cases.

This comes as Kenya joined the rest of the globe in marking World Water Day.

Statistics indicate that many citizens lack access to clean water.

According to a UN report, 18 million Kenyans lack access to clean water .

WaterAid East Africa head Olutaye Bangole said 800 children die daily due to cholera cases as 2.3 billion lack access to decent toilets.

The county government in collaboration with National Environmental Management Authority has been on a mission to save water resources in Nairobi.

The aim is to ensure water flowing along the Nairobi River is clean.

The move saw eight people being arrested for dumping waste into the river.
