Matiangi addresses the rampant Gender-Based Violence cases

Earlier today, the Interior CS Fred Matiangi addressed the rampant Gender-Based Violence cases in the country.

Dr.Fred Matiangi raised concerns over rising cases of Gender-Based Violence in Meru & parts of Eastern Region.

He also warned that punitive disciplinary action will be taken against Chiefs & Assistant Chiefs shielding offenders from the course of justice for personal gain.

Matiangi condemned gender-Based Violence stating that sexual and gender-based violence is a repugnant practice.

He also added that it is indeed saddening that it getting worse in some parts of the country.

In enforcing the rule of law, Matiangi assured that the government will not hesitate to dismiss and prosecute anyone perverting the course of justice to the detriment of victims.

The Interior CS was speaking during an event which was today held in Meru County. Other officials who were in attendance include the
Public Service, Youth & Gender Affairs CS Margaret Kobia.

Prof.Margaret Kobia and Matiangi also presented cheques worth KES 40 million for the Women Enterprise Fund and Youth Enterprise Development Fund in Meru County in the spirit of fueling the realization of their social and economic development goals.
