Former IEBC Commissioner Dr Roselyn Akombe has launched a vicious attack on President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government, raising doubts about it’s integrity.
Dr Akombe resigned from the electoral body when the country was about to hold presidential re-re-run elections, citing lack of transparency among her colleagues.
In a tweet on Thursday, Akombe accused the government of denying deaths at Northern Kenya, adding that the move is a bad practice of governance.
“These ‘drought/hunger denial’ press appearances are a reflection of the extreme truth deficit disorder the regime in Nairobi and the governors suffer from. Thank you @TrevorOmbija for pressing for answers,” Akombe tweeted.
The ex-commissioner, who fled Kenya in October 2017, added in reference to DP William Ruto’s statement:” Extreme Truth Deficiency Disorder. And there is a cure for such a disease.”
Despite media reports that at least 11 people have died in hunger stricken counties of Turkana and Baringo, DP Ruto on Wednesday termed the reports as ‘fake news’ and vowed to have local administrators who spoke to the media held answerable.
This comes even as West Pokot Governor John Longanyapuo admitted that two people had died out of hunger in his county, insisting that there were more deaths at the neighbouring Baringo.
