OH NO! Are Miley and Liam splitting up?

Is Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth’s marriage in trouble because they “can’t stop fighting”? That’s what is being reported by one of this week’s celebrity magazines. Gossip Cop looked into the claim about them being at risk of splitting up, and it’s neither true nor original.

According to OK!, the “honeymoon phase is already over” for Hemsworth and Cyrus, and the couple is “on the rocks.” The publication quotes a so-called source as saying, “They were in a total love bubble, but now they can’t stop fighting.” In a common practice for tabloids, its unnamed and unverifiable “source” asserts how Cyrus and Hemsworth “come across as the perfect couple, but behind closed doors, they’re struggling.” That’s the way for these outlets to get around how, for instance, Hemsworth and Cyrus looked in love at a Women’s Cancer Research Fund event just three weeks ago in Beverly Hills.

Liam Hemsworth Miley Cyrus Marriage

So, what’s the supposed cause of tension? The tabloid writes, “She’s slowly reverting back to her wild child ways.” And as one of its smoking guns, the magazine notes how Cyrus posted a throwback photo of her wearing a Jonas Brothers T-shirt, which her ex-boyfriend Nick Jonas called “amazing.” From that and other equally flimsy examples, the outlet’s anonymous source speculates how it’s “reminding Liam of the old Miley, and he thought they moved past that.”

“[Hemsworth] thought Miley had matured and was ready to settle down, but it’s dawned on him that she may never change,” insists the highly suspect tipster. The tabloid concludes its tale by noting that Cyrus “can’t be tamed.” This isn’t the first time an outlet has played on her song and album of the same name, Can’t Be Tamed, to incorrectly allege Cyrus and Hemsworth are having relationship issues. Nor is it the first time it’s been inaccurately contended the singer is returning to her “wild ways” and they’re “on the rocks.”

Literally five days before they wed, one of the tabloid’s falsely maintained the Cyrus and Hemsworth were headed for a split because she was returning to her wild child ways. Similarly, the magazine’s sister website, RadarOnline, wrongly reported five months before their marriage that Cyrus and Hemsworth were “on the rocks,” without even giving a specific reason why. And just two weeks ago, Gossip Cop busted its sister publication, Star, when it tried to peddle a story about how Cyrus “can’t be tamed” and is “wild” again.

This time around, OK! is simply repeating variations of claims that Gossip Cop has previously debunked, and which time has disproven, as well. More significantly, the magazine doesn’t offer any substantiation for its premise that Hemsworth and Cyrus “can’t stop fighting.” On the contrary, in a loving tribute Cyrus posted on Instagram to Hemsworth on his birthday two months ago, she wrote, “I love how you let ME be Me.”

The reality is Hemsworth has been with the singer for the better part of a decade, and he knows full well who his wife is and isn’t, and he loves her for it. Gossip Cop would like everyone to revisit this story in a year from now to see how poorly the publication’s tale holds up. It seems the only real fight is the one the tabloid often has with the truth.
