Manchester United have brought joy to their fans after agreeing to partly fund travelling fans’ tickets for the second leg clash with Barcelona at the Camp Nou after the host club set prices at £102.
Man United visit the Nou Camp next month after knocking out Paris Saint-Germain in the second of the UEFA Champions League. The Red Devils have been allocated 4,600 seats for the Champions League quarter final clash.
The Old Trafford side are reportedly angry at the Catalan side’s decision to charge its fans over £100 for a game ticket, describing the increase as ‘excessive.’
As a result of this, United will charge Barca fans with the same amount and are planning to use the money gotten from sales to subsidise the away tickets of the club’s fans. This isn’t the first time this has happened to United in the Champions League.
Something similar happened in 2017 when Spanish side Sevilla charged away fans £89 for the game, a significant increase on what Liverpool fans paid at the same ground some months earlier.
United intervened in that instance by subsidising fans’ tickets by £35. This was done by increasing the price for the Sevilla fans coming to England.
After the incident against Sevilla in 2017 Manchester United Supporters’ Trust got in contact with the Football Supporters Europe (FSE) and UEFA in an attempt to get a resolution to exploitative pricing.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid and United interested signing Paulo Dybala from Juventus, but the Serie A side are demanding a huge amount.
Dybala has been poor for Juve this term, scoring only four League goals in 25 appearances. But in the Champions League he has netted five in seven. Paulo Dybala has been linked with a summer move to a number of European giants, but Juventus are not going to let him go cheaply.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the ‘Old Lady’ want €120m (£102.69m) for Dybala this summer. Premier League side Man City are reportedly showing the most interest in the Argentina international.
The trio of City, United and Real could all afford the nine-figure sum, but they may be tempted to look elsewhere or to stick with options they already have. The La Liga side are likely to go on a whopping spending spree this summer under returning manager Zinedine Zidane.
The Spanish giants have been linked with moves for Eden Hazard, Neymar and Christian Eriksen, and whether they come off may dictate if they bid for Dybala.
