Kenyan patient expelled from plane at JKIA free to fly albeit as a stretcher passenger

Etihad Airways has explained the circumstances that led to a Kenyan patient on board one of their planes was ejected at JKIA.

Etihad Airways through their Guest Relations Officer Zeinab Faytarouni, has said it will refund ticket money of the patient.

Ms Faytarouni, however, maintained that if the patient, Wangari Ndumia, still wished to travel with the airline, she would have to be booked as a stretcher passenger.

Ms Wangari, 25, was ejected from Etihad flight EY 642 last Sunday by the airline’s officials who said she was not fit to travel.

Zeinab said Wangari could not be allowed to fly at the time since “she was in so much pain”.

Zeinab said the pain, as evaluated by Medlink, the global health body responsible for handling in-flight medical cases, was as a result of Wangari’s inability to bend her leg.
