Another EPL star set to sign a contract with Juventus

Bye Bye! Liverpool star is finally leaving for Italian giants after spending five years at the club

According to Liverpool Echo, Spanish international Alberto Moreno is set to sign a pre-contract agreement with Italian Serie A club Lazio ahead of a summer move. Moreno arrived Anfield from Sevilla in 2014 but has struggled to put in good performances.

Reports on Thursday claimed Moreno is set to sign for the Serie A side with the Spaniard into the final few months of his Anfield deal.

So far, no new contract offer has been forthcoming from the club, and fresh terms won’t be tabled to Moreno’s representatives between now and the end of the season.

The Reds signed Moreno from Sevilla back in 2014 for around £12million and a return to Andalusia had initially appeared on the cards after losing his place in the side to Andy Robertson.

However, according to the ECHO Moreno is under no obligation to discuss any future move away from Anfield with Liverpool and he has not yet informed the club of his intentions. And the 26-year-old is currently in Rome ahead of a potential pre-contract agreement with Lazio.

Moreno was pictured on Instagram this week meeting up with former Liverpool team-mate and current Lazio midfielder Lucas Leiva and his prospective move to the Stadio Olimpico would complete a treble of former Reds, with Luis Alberto also on the books of the Italians.

Moreno has started just four times this season, playing his part in Premier League victories over Burnley and Cardiff as well the League and FA Cup defeats to Chelsea and Wolves.

While it appears as though the left-back’s days are numbered at Anfield, Moreno may yet be required when the Reds host Porto in the Champions League quarter-final first leg next month.

Robertson’s late booking in the 3-1 win at Bayern Munich means he is ruled out of the visit from the Portuguese and Moreno could be handed the chance to deputise on April 9.

Initially brought to the club by Brendan Rodgers in August 2014, Moreno spent the entire season as deputy to midfielder James Milner at left-back as the Reds qualified for the Champions League in the 2016/17 season.

A move to Italy was discussed that summer but the Reds rejected an £11m bid from Napoli before he forced his way back into the side at the start of the 2017/18 campaign. An impressive renaissance even saw the defender force his way back onto the international scene as he won his fourth international cap for Spain.

However an injury in a Champions League win over Spartak Moscow in December 2017 opened the door for Robertson, who grasped his opportunity to firmly cement his place as first-choice left-back at Anfield.
