Why did he do it? Escaped convict returns to prison after escape

PA man who had been convicted for robbery with violence was arrested as he attempted to sneak back to prison. 

The man, who was serving a life sentence at Manyani Maximum Security Prison, Voi, Taita Taveta County, escaped on Sunday. 

A multi-agency operation was mounted in the neighbouring areas to hunt him down only for him to be nabbed as he tried to enter the facility.

County Prisons Commander, Nicholas Maswai, stated that the man was mentally unstable. 

The inmate had previously been in isolation because of his condition. 

“We had segregated him because of his health condition,” disclosed Maswai.

The prison boss also revealed that the convict had a previous jailbreak record.

He explained that the convict may have escaped through the drainage tunnel into the adjacent prison farm. 

In other news about prison drama, Nyeri Magistrate Pauline Maisy Chesang, who was arrested following links to the murder of her late husband, Robert Chesang, made a desperate plea to avoid sharing a prison with inmates she had sentenced.

Appearing at a court in Machakos on March 12, the defendant disclosed that she feared of her life pending her detainment at Machakos G.K Prison.
