Reason Why Chelsea and Arsenal Will Not Appear in Top Four

That is according to a football pundit former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol.

Arsenal currently occupy fourth in the Premier League table, just one point behind north London rivals Tottenham in third.

But Nicol seemingly thinks Spurs will hang on to third spot despite their recent poor run of results.

Chelsea remained sixth following Sunday’s disappointing 2-0 loss at Everton.

Nicol does not think there is any chance Maurizio Sarri’s side will claw back the three points they are away from the last Champions League qualification spot.

He believes fourth place will be a direct fight between Arsenal and United.

Arsenal beat the Red Devils in their last outing 2-0 at the Emirates and do not have to play any of the top six in their remaining eight matches.

But Nicol is still backing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side to get the job done.

“Chelsea is what they are and right now, being outside the top four, you wonder are they capable of getting in the top four?” Nicol said.

“I’m not so sure.

“For me it’s going to be between Manchester United and Arsenal.

“I’m going to plump for Manchester United because I don’t quite trust Arsenal’s backline.

“And Man United going forward can score goals.

“So I think United for me are going to be in the fourth spot.

“But for Chelsea, not happening.”
