Gor Mahia head coach Hassan Oktay has urged the club’s top brass to embrace technology if they are to perform against the best teams in the continent.

Oktay believes that were they to have people who watched over their opponents in their CAF Confederation Group games they would have an edge heading into games away from home; the coach giving examples against Petro Atletico and Zamalek who he said he had no idea of how they played.

“We all have to embrace football technology in this club. I had a white scout who watched every single of my players in my previous jobs. It’s hard to work when you don’t have a clue about your opponents. When I went to Petro I didn’t know the Petro team.

“I had to call my friends and scouts to give me the statistics of Petro to help me with my homework. In Zamalek, I was fishing for the same info and it makes it hard for us in away games when you don’t know the opponents,” Oktay said after their game against Petro Atletico on Sunday.

The coach further lambasted Camp Toyoyo-the team’s training ground-saying it was a ground for everyone that made it easier for opposition scouts to scavenge over them heading into games.

“With all due respect, we train in Toyoyo which is a pitch for everyone. These guys (CAF opponents) got so many football facilities. You look at all this factor and you got to give the boys some credit for what they have achieved and I’m proud of every single one of them. We using 1944 style of football in 2019. So, before you ask me about how we play away ask where the technology system is,” Oktay added.

The Kenyan giants will learn about their quarterfinals opponents in the CAF Confederations Cup on Wednesday.
