Maina Kamanda

Former Starehe MP Maina has reiterated that Mount Kenya votes aren’t for sale and anyone interested must first show respect to president Uhuru Kenyatta who is the matron of the region.

PRESIDENT UHURU KENYATTA WILL NOT STOP FIGHTING CORRUPTION Today we worshipped at a church in Limuru as guests of Hon Mwathi. Other MPs from Jubilee present included Hons Mercy Gakuya (Kasarani), Maoka Maore (Ntonyiri), Maina Kamanda (Nominated), Paul Koinange (Kiambaa), Joshua Kutuny (Cherangany) & Ngunjiri Wambugu (Nyeri Town)We also had Hons Samuel Atandi (Alego Usongo-ODM), Anthony Oluoch (Mathare-ODM), Caleb Khamisi (Saboti-ODM), Godfrey Osotsi (Nominated, ANC) & Robert Mbui – (Kathiani-Wiper).Our message – like last week in Kasarani – is that corruption has no tribe or party; that this war against corruption must be won; and we are 100% behind Uhuru Kenyatta as he goes after this ‘tribe’ called corruption. We have also said DCI Kinoti haendi pahali. Hon Koinange (my Chairman in the National Security) has confirmed that our committee we will ensure politicians do not bully Kinoti to stop him from doing his work.Hon Kamanda finished by saying that ‘even if people are going to be bought … and he has mentioned some Mt Kenya MPs by name who have been bought … the locals they represent are 100% behind Uhuru Kenyatta, and his fight against corruption. Essentially we will not allow President Uhuru Kenyatta to be intimidated by anyone. #Kitaeleweka

Speaking in Limuru over the weekend,Kamanda said that the DP Ruto has bought MP Ndindi Nyoro and Kimani Ichugwa to fight the president on his fight against corruption.

His words brought to the fore a debate that has been raging on the political direction Mt Kenya region will take after the exit of President Uhuru Kenyatta from the political scene.

Since 2013 and up to the election day in 2017, Mr Kenyatta used every opportunity to remind everyone that his preferred successor was his deputy William Ruto.

“We as Kikuyu do not have another leader or spokesman except President Kenyatta. Even after five years into your retirement Mr President, you will still be our spokesman. Some people (read Kikuyu MPs) should stop taking Kikuyus for granted. Kikuyus will not to be taken to market place to be sold like commodities,” thundered Mr Kamanda.
