Maraga commends late Justice Mukunya’s ethics in condolence message

The Chief Justice has sent his message of condolences to the family and friends of the late retired Industrial court judge Isaac E.K Mukunya.

“I have known Justice Mukunya since our days at the University of Nairobi and i remember his stringest work ethics, his commitment to the law and his consistency in the way he handled all his affairs values which were reflected in his judgement. I pray that God gives his family fortitude to bear this,” reads part of his message.

The judge who died on Thursday, March 14 was an advocate of the High Court of many years standing.

He was in private practice in Nyeri before his appointment as a judge in 2003. He retired in 2013 after 10 years in the bench.

Mukunya hailed from Mahiga Location, Othaya, Nyeri County.

He undertook his LLB graduate studies at the University of Nairobi and Kagumo High School, Nyeri for his high school.

A member of his family said the retired judge had asked to be buried at least three days after his death.

“We will honour his wish and bury him on Tuesday. That was his wish,” said the member of the family who asked not to be named.
