Here is how Safaricom’s ‘Kocho kocho’ campaign represents diversity and inclusion

More than 1.5 million customers from across the country have already been awarded weekly cash and daily airtime prizes worth over Sh78M, from the ongoing “Shukrani Kocho Kocho Kenya Nzima” consumer campaign by Safaricom.

Winners from every region are randomly selected through weekly draws with more than 500,000 customers expected to win cash prizes of Sh1,000 and above while more than 5 million other customers stand to win daily airtime prizes.

Vincent Munga from Bungoma is among sixteen millionaires announced recently.  “The Sh1 Million will be of great help to me. I struggle so much to keep my siblings in school while depending on the income from my small shop.  It is a great cushion. I thank Safaricom for celebrating me as a customer,” said Munga.

Other week one winners of Sh1 million include: Makori Mogoa Ayienda- North Eastern, Rolyne Kageha Mukunza- Coast, Belinda Atieno Nyang’or- Nyanza, Esther Awino Amoth-Nairobi, Ernest Kaunyangi Nkubitu- Eastern, Daniel Makali Kilobi – Central and Mary Nyambura Mbugua – Rift Valley.

Week two millionaires includes Sofia Mohamed Ali- North Eastern, Japheth Okari Mokua- Nyanza, Nathan Kibiwott Suter- Rift Valley, Naomi Wanjiru Gichoya – Central, Somo Halake Hapicha – Central, and Abraham Agesa Makenzi – Nairobi and Julius Dzuwa Kalume – Coast.

The aim of this promotion is to celebrate and reward our more than 29 million customers for their continued loyalty over the years. The ten-week promotion seeks to reward more than 5 million Safaricom customers across the country with more than Sh250 million in prizes. The campaign is in its third week. By rewarding a millionaire in every county, the promotion is a representation of diversity and inclusion.

To participate in the promotion, customers will earn ten entries for every KES 20 top-up, and one entry for every KES 20 transacted on M-PESA. Qualifying M-PESA transactions include sending money, receiving money from a business, transfers from a financial institution to M-PESA, and all Lipa Na M-PESA transactions.
