Babu Owino extends his help to the family of murdered former UON student leader

Babu Owino has joined ambassadorial role of good deeds after he promises wife of the slain former University of Nairobi student leader.

Embakasi East Member of Parliament has pledged to offset all funeral expenses of slain Samuel Ragira alias OCS.

Samuel Ragira was leading the protest to stop people he alleged to be Mungiki who were terrorizing resident of Klabu 36 market.

“Mr. Samuel Ragira expressed his concern on his Facebook account, asking the OCS to act swiftly, it is unfortunate that Mungiki are terrorising Klabu 36 traders with pangas and guns taking advantage of the situation. They are demanding 10K from every trader to build a kibanda.

“This issue is disturbing as the police are watching it happen. Students are being harassed and others losing their phones. We want to know why the police can side with people terrorising innocent Kenyans,” Ragira expressed his concerns.

Mr. Owino, in a statement released on Saturday evening after viewing the body at Chiromo Mortuary, condemned the killing and urged the Kenya Police Service to assure students of security.

He further visited the deceased former student’s home where he pledged to help his widow, Yvonne, start a business to enable her raise their daughter, Talia.

Mr. Ragira, during the time of his death, is said to have confronted the alleged thugs before one of them reportedly fatally shot him.

A report from police officers said the slain former student leader was killed by mob.
