Kilifi Women challenged to take an active role in developing the county

Kilifi Women have been urged to take advantage of the opportunities and environment created for them by the government in order to upgrade their living standards.

Speaking during a funds drive for Ache Osi Women Group in Rabai Constituency, the Kilifi Deputy Governor Saburi noted that the focus as a County Government towards women is to ensure each and every woman in Kilifi County is empowered and given a platform to earn a living.

This will go a long way in also promoting self-reliance, improving their standards of living and challenge other young girls to become responsible and hardworking members of the society.

” We will not relent in our quest to help women groups establish business startups, join saccos and boost their ventures to increase incomes.” he stated

He also encouraged the women of Kilifi County to take advantage of the conducive environment for doing business which the County Government has created through the business friendly bills and programs like the Mbegu Fund as they concretize their vision to have women taking an active role in driving our County forward.

Last week, Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi highlighted women empowerment as one of the key agenda of his county government.

Kingi stated that as a government, they have taken deliberate measures which include striking a gender balance in public office appointments so as to empower women and actively engage them in building a dynamic and inclusive Kilifi County community.

Amason Kingi lauded the women in Kilifi County for taking a leading role in ensuring Kilifi becomes a better place especially in education and leadership matters.

He also added that the County Government of Kilifi is furthering opportunities for women by supporting self-help groups and advancing credit to finance start-ups small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
