Police seize 250 bags of tobacco over tax evasion

Detectives have seized 250 bags of Tobacco worth million of shillings hidden in a ware house in Nairobi

A source has hinted to the writer that the owner of the tobacco evaded paying tax after shipping the goods from India.

Speaking after a raid at Wall Street Business Park, where the consignment was hidden,  Head of Flying Squad Musa Yego said detectives are pursuing the owner of the property.

“We will still pursue the owner if he wont surrender to police to write a statement,”he said.

The sleuths are also holding 10 rolls of copper wire, 3,900 pieces of utensils and deodorants. According to police, the owner of the property lied to KRA officials and paid Sh380,000 when he should have parted with more than Sh50 million.

 Yego said police arrested two drivers and three loaders to provide more information.
