Mount Kenya University has inked a partnership with Kiambu County government for the construction of drainage system as part of Corporate Social Responsibility.
Over years the varsity has been engaged in private private partnerships in an effort to serve the society whereas students acquires the requisite skills required in the job market.
The project will benefit thousands of Thika Residents who have been experiencing severe storm water flooding especially during the rainy season.
Speaking during the inspection Dr. Evans Mwiti, Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Administration, Planning and Institutional Advancement appreciated the partnership between the University and the Kiambu County government since it continues to bear fruits.
The first project that the two institutions delivered together was construction of General Kago funeral home which continues to benefit Thika Level 5 hospital and MKU medical School.
Construction of the drainage system will enhance the public health of the locality and minimize emerging and spread of water borne diseases such as Cholera. The well-constructed underground drainage system will create a more conducive environment for the business to thrive well.
Dr. Evans Mwiti has further said that the varsity will continue partnering with more institutions to equip students with requisite experiences.
He adds,over years Mku has been on the fore-line as the leading institution of choice.
