“I Was Unfairly Targeted” Kiunjuri After Summons By DCI Over Dams Scandal

Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri has faulted the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in the ongoing probe into the Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal.

Though he honoured summons to appear at the DCI headquarters on Kiambu Road on Thursday, CS Kiunjuri was adamant that he was ‘unfairly targeted’.

“Much as I could be exonerated but what happens to my reputation?” he posed.

The CS spent 32 minutes inside the DCI offices as detectives sought information on alleged embezzlement of funds meant for construction of the dams.

His Devolution counterpart Eugene Wamalwa is is still holed up at the DCI offices on Kiambu Road.

Wamalwa who was the Water CS when the multi-billion contract was issued had also availed himself to the detectives on Thursday morning.

Trade CS Peter Munya, who was in charge of the East Africa Community at the time, was also expected to appear before the DCI.

“The three are expected to shed more light regarding the scam of the two dams Arror and Kimwarer which were supposed to be in Elgeyo Marakwet,” DCI Kinoti said.

Treasury CS Henry Rotich was questioned for three consecutive days last week to determine what he knew about the payment for the dam projects.
