The ‘mtu wetu’ politics is reigning in Kenya as politicians take sides in emerging top graft scandals pointing fingers and accusing one another of being evil and spreading of lies threatening economic stability.
Nairobi Nasa MCAs have accused Deputy President William Ruto of sponsoring divisions in the county assembly.
The legislators led by Minority leader Elias Otieno and Minority Whip Peter Imwatok said that the DP was using some members in the Jubilee party to fight the handshake.
This comes three days after a section of Jubilee MCAs led by Waithaka MCA Antony Kiragu condemned NASA leader Raila Odinga on his remarks against Ruto in the recent Devolution Conference.
Defending DP Ruto, the Jubilee ward rep said that Ruto has an obligation and a mandate to understand and articulate government projects as well as defend the party’s manifesto.
Addressing the media at City Hall on Monday evening, Imwatok pointed a finger at Waithaka MCA Kiragu and a few MCAs allies to Ruto of fighting the war against graft.
“Efforts are being put to sort out corruption in Kenya but it has come to our attention that a section of Jubilee MCAs allied to the DP are using his name to source money from their party leaders and also bring disunity in the assembly,” Imwatok said.
“We do not have a problem with the DP but we will not entertain anyone throwing verbal attacks to Raila for personal gain,” he added
