Egyptian outfit El Zamalek have slapped Hamid Ahaddad with a Ksh. 1,715,924 fine for showboating in their 4-0 win over Kenyan Champions Gor Mahia in the CAF Confederations Cup as confirmed by the club’s president, Mortada Mansour.

With Zamalek leading 2-0, Ahaddad stood on the ball, in what was considered by the club’s board as a sign of disrespect shown towards the opponent. The move appeared to have angered K’Ogalo skipper Harun Shakava who challenged him with a tough tackle to retrieve the ball from him.

Mansour insisted that the club does not condone such acts and punished him with a fine, “We decided to fine Ahaddad 300,000 EGP for standing on the ball against Gor Mahia. No player is allowed to show any disrespect towards a rival team. A few years ago, an Al Ahly player did the same against Zamalek, and his action was condemned by me and many others. We don’t want such actions to be repeated again.”
