The better part of this week has seen National Carrier Kenya Airways come under great scrutiny after it’s top managers were exposed for their alleged mismanagement of the Airline.

Following a strike by the Kenya Aviation Workers Union, KAWU, it emerged that top bosses at Kenya Airways led by CEO Sebastian Mikosz were earning outrageous salaries despite the fact that they had done nothing tangible to help turn around the airlines fortunes.

An angry Sebastian Mikosz in a detailed statement has not come out guns blazing and denied any wrong-doing at the airline.

KAWU had said that Mr. Mikosz earns 8 million shillings in Salaries, claims that the Polish has sensationally denied.

The CEO has said that he in fact earns Shs2.7 million per month not Shs8 million as stated in the statement that is now widely shared in the social media.

He has also dismissed information circulating in the social media that the national carrier is dominated by foreign employees and consultants who are paid outrageously high salaries.

In a memo to the KQ staff, Mikoz said that out of the 3,000 employees of the company only 18 are expatriates working as employees and consultants.

“This is approximately 0.6% of the entire KQ staff. This is a fact,” he said.

“Of the 18 employees, 5 are KLM managers seconded to KQ. Two of them are occupying senior positions: The Chief Operating Officer and the Head of Global Sales,” he detailed, adding that “although they work for KQ, they remain KLM employees.”

This means their remunerations and other employment benefits are covered by KLM airlines, he added.

The CEO has already initiated Legal proceedings against everyone that spread malicious information about him and hopes that justice will take it’s due course.
