The power of team work during national tragedy has been revealed by interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i on Friday when he said that co-operation between Kenya and UK authorities combated planned terror attacks within the country.

Matiang’i, who is in the UK for a series of meetings, stated that the Kenyan Security forces had benefited from their UK counterparts in gathering intel and adoption of mitigation measures in the fight against terror.

This, he explained factored greatly in handling security crises and reducing the number of casualties in the event of an attack.

“The ministers said cooperation (between Kenya and United Kingdom) has led to successes ranging from the improved response to security threats to bursting the smuggling (of) luxury SUVs through Mombasa,” a member in Matiang’is team was quoted by a Kenyan newsroom

A report by the publication revealed that the UK forces had been offering lessons on how a multi-agency operation can save lives when they operate in an organised command structure.

On his part, UK Minister of State for Security Ben Wallace who met with Matiang’i stated that the two nations would continue collaborating in implementing counter-terrorism measures.

“There have been productive discussions on counter-terrorism and serious organised crime. Kenya is a key partner in tackling these global challenges,” he maintained.
