“We are dealing with thieves, not men of God,” Linus Kaikai calls out Fake Pastors

Renowned Citizen TV journalist, Linus Kaikai, on Thursday called for the regulation of preachers in Kenya, citing recent scandals as a key reason.

Kaikai mentioned the Ekeza Sacco scandal as a prime example of how fake pastors have used their self-title positions to steal from their loyal congregation.

“We are dealing with thieves, not men of God. These are cold-blooded evangelical vampires living off the blood of their flock, in the name of Jesus,” he stated.

He asserted that such individuals need to be held liable and accountable to relevant officials as opposed to their current status where they claim to be answerable only to God.

Kaikai recommended that the fake pastors who have been mentioned in scandals of defrauding innocent Kenyans be arrested by arraigned in court like any other law-breaking citizen.

The journalist also mentioned in disdain, how fake pastors gain wealth and luxurious gifts from members hooked on the fake evangelism.

“Their devotees raise money to buy ‘mum’, ‘dad’ or both expensive gifts that range from expensive watches to top of the range cars,” he remarked.

He went on to narrate how the fake pastors have gone to the village level where they take advantage of unwitting locals, claiming to have powers to perform miracles.

The vocal journalist cited Pastor Lukau’s viral video of the stage-managed resurrection miracle as a reason to follow Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame’s move to shut down over 6000 churches.

President Kagame went on to decree that any new church would be required to present a theology degree of the resident pastor.

His sentiments echo Kangema MP, Muturi Kigano’s proposed Bill aimed at rooting out fake pastors and churches.

Besides guaranteeing the freedom of conscience, religion, belief, and opinion, the Constitution recognises Kenya as a secular state in Articles 8 and 32 (1) and (2).
