The Isuzu EA Women Council today hosted over 100 women drawn from different sectors in the country to a breakfast as they marked and celebrated this year’s International Women’s Day.
Through the theme ‘Better the Balance, Better the World’, the Isuzu EA Women Council breakfast forum aims to drive synergized change actions across industries by engaging with and celebrating outstanding women across different sectors.
While delivering her keynote address, Isuzu EA Managing Director Rita Kavashe, explained that the forum is a call to action for achieving gender balance across various sectors and industries.
“When we sat down as the Women Council, we discovered that there is a need to create an environment that will influence synergized yet structured actions across industries that ultimately deliver on a true dividend of inclusivity and diversity,” said Rita.
She added that as a Women’s Council, they had achieved several milestones and were looking forward to replicate the same across the various industries represented at the forum.
“The Isuzu EA Women’s Council mirrors a strongly embedded culture focusing on driving inclusivity and diversity of women across our business. Throughout the region, our sole purpose is to establish a culture of transformative action for women in the marketplace,” said Rita.
Speaking on this year’s International Women’s Day theme, the Isuzu EA MD noted that it speaks to the purpose and promise of Isuzu’s Women’s Council.
“By embracing ‘Better the Balance, Better the World’, women would be able to define what balance for better means across industries, review what they are doing right to achieve balance for better in their workplaces, and take initiative to overcome any personal inhibitions that would limit their realization of their fullest potential”,explained Rita Kavashe.
Giving her vote of thanks, Isuzu Women Council chairlady Loise Gichure, appreciated the guests for honouring the Isuzu Women’s Council invitation to attend and amplify their voice on women diversity and inclusion in various workplaces.
“We are here to celebrate women’s achievements and opportunities moving forward to enhance gender balance in our society. We are honoured by the presence of so many here representing diverse sectors and therefore able to catalyse the needed change in their industries,” said Loise.
Among the local achievers recognized and celebrated at the event were the Kenya Women’s Rugby 7s Lionesses for their continental win, Beatrice Chepkoech, the 3000M Steeplechase World Record Holder for her success in athletics and Naomi Kipkorir, the Group CEO, Seneca East Africa. The breakfast was attended by various guests notable among them were Phyllis Wakiaga, CEO Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM), Carole Kariuki, CEO Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) and Rebecca Miano, MD KenGen.
