Huduma Namba Registration set to officially kick off in April, Government states

The government has finally settled on a new date when the National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS) number, popularly known as Huduma Namba, registration exercise is set to commence.

Taking to social media, National Government Communication Centre (NGCC) set the date for the roll out of the 45-day exercise on April 2, 2019, from an earlier scheduled March 15.

The state also revealed that 50,000 youth had been hired to carry out the exercise and that they would pocket Kshs 1,500 every day for the entire period.

“The Government has set April 2, 2019 as the official day when the 45-day NIIMS mass registration exercise will commence countrywide.”50,000 youth, earning 1,500 daily, will be working with chiefs, their assistants & other Government officials to ensure all Kenyans are registered,” posted NGCC.

In an earlier report, Interior PS Karanja Kibicho revealed that the government would then carry out a 3-month data cleansing exercise before taking a month long data harmonization process.

“After data cleansing, the Assistant Chiefs would remain with the registration gadgets to continue enrolling newborns,” the PS conveyed.

Besides, the Assistant Chiefs will continue capturing biometrics of those who may have attained the age of 6 years.

Using  the registration kits, the Assistant Chiefs will equally be recording the deaths of people in their jurisdiction. NIIMS pilot project kicked off on Monday February 18 in 15 selected counties with the launch held in Nyandarua County.
