Police are unwrapping a case on the death of a 4-year-old girl who allegedly consumed poisoned food on Monday in Bigogo village, Boronyi in Nyaribari Chache constituency, Kisii County.
The area chief Naftal Ntabo said the deceased ate the food before she started complaining of a stomachache.
“The deceased has been living with his aunt after her mother separated with her father. Her aunt cooked the food and packed for her to eat on Sunday evening because she will be away,” said Ntabo.
The chief said the minor, ate the food not knowing it was her last day to eat on earth.
“The deceased complained of stomachache and was rushed to a local hospital where medics confirmed that the minor had fed on poisoned food,” he stated.
He noted that the minor was referred to Kisii hospital for further treatment but, unfortunately, she was pronounced dead on arrival.
“She died immediately she arrived at the hospital. We suspect someone might have poisoned the food so that we can claim it is her aunt,” he added.
The administrator confirmed that the deceased body was moved to the KTRH morgue.
