Illegal American and 41 Ethiopian immigrants detained by Nyeri court for 7 days with their age worrying

41 illegal immigrants from Ethiopia and an American were on Tuesday morning arraigned before the Nyeri Law Courts for being in the country illegally.

Senior Principal Magistrate Philip Mutua directed they be detained at the Nyeri Central Police Station for seven days pending further investigations.

According to an affidavit sworn by the County Commander Ali Nuno, the immigrants were on transit to a neighbouring country.

Nuno further indicated that a multi-agency task force is being constituted to vet the immigrants.

The immigrants aged between 18-25 years were were arrested in Kiganjo and Karatina between March 3 and 4, 2019.

They were found to be without proper documentation.
