Government to hire nurses to replace those who ignored President Kenyatta’s order

National and County governments will hire nurses on contract to replace those who ignored President Kenyatta’s order to resume duty on February 15.

This announcement comes after President Uhuru Kenyatta’s 13th Feb order for nurses across the country to end their strike and resume work immediately.

The Head of state termed the strike as unlawful and ordered the county government and Health Ministry to sack any nurse who fails to turn up to work on Friday.

“As the Commander in Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, I have instructed National Police Service to take stern action on picketers who may intimidate public servants who intend to go to work. Any nurse who fails to report to work as directed above will be dismissed,” he cautioned.

This directive led on some of the nurses to withdraw from the strike and resume work.

Some counties such as Nairobi County held conversations with their Governors and county officials in the health department and came to an agreement.

Those who did not resume work will face backlash as the tough measures will pull them out from the system.
