Farewell Muhammed Huka; This Is How He Fought Till The End

Former South Mandera legislater, Muhammed Adan Huka passed on on the morning of Sunday, 3rd March. According to reports Huka has been ailing for quite sometime as he was making trips to Nairobi and back to Mombasa for specialized medical attention.

According to his family, he passed away in his home and burial arrangements are already underway in line with Islamic customs.

“It is so unfortunate and sad that our brother died this morning after returning from Mombasa where he had been undergoing treatment. He died at home. We are making arrangements for the burial this afternoon after prayers at the Lang’ata Cemetery,” Huka’s brother Abdi Adan Ali said.

Huka was elected in parliament in 2013 on a United Republican Party (URP) ticket and served office till the end of his term in 2017. Huka was elected in parliament in 2013 on a United Republican Party (URP) ticket and served office till the end of his term in 2017.

He however exited office in quite unceremonious fashion under the infamous decree by the defunct Garre Council of Elders in Mandera. One of the highlights during his tenure was when he viciously defended National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale who was under immense pressure from the public to produce names of individuals funding terror group al-Shabaab.

This was in the wake of the deadly Garissa University attack which saw 147 students killed. Huka had been battling illness for three years prior to his death.
