Just towards the end 2018, the Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen sensationally claimed NASA leader Raila Odinga was fighting the Kalenjin community ahead of the 2022 General Election.

Through his twitter handle, the Elgeyo Marakwet senator further stated that Odinga has been fighting Kikuyus for the past three elections because his main competitors came from the Central region.

“Raila for the last 3 elections ran a campaign against one community- the Kikuyus coz is main competitors were from Central.

“Today he has officially through @gladyswanga &Co.launched a new line focused on Kalenjins just coz 2022 competitor is William Ruto. Deplorable&Sad,” he wrote.

In the recent televised interview on Citizen TV, the Senate Majority leader sensationally said that the campaign that has been going around on social media and the media that Kalenjins are corrupt is being engineered by cartels to scuttle DP Ruto’s 2022 bid.

His statement came just a day after news of a fresh scandal in which KSh. 21 billion meant for the construction of Arror and Kimwarer Dams In Elgeyo Marakwet County disappeared.

Murkomen argued that Mr Kinoti does not have any information on how the construction of the two dams was being handled, and therefore, his input was misplaced.

“I urge the DCI before he embarks on any investigations of this nature, they should engage experts with the necessary knowledge on how these types of contracts work,” Murkomen said in part.

While explaining how an Italian company was paid over 7 billion as advance payment, Murkomen said that it was clearly agreed in on the contracts before work commenced that 15% of the projects cost would be paid to the contractor.

The payment, Murkomen explained, was enable the contractor to mobilize the equipment and the designs of the two dam projects as outlined in the contracts.

Further in a statement posted on his social media, Murkomen raised concern that the construction of the two dams had attracted undue attention from the media and the DCI while there were other projects across the country that were more expensive and had taken a longer time to commence.
