Nazrin Omar goes head to head with Mandera Governor Roba

Former presidential candidate Nazlin Umar has been allowed to be enjoined in a suit against Mandera Governor Ali Roba.

Chief Magistrate Douglass Ogoti issued orders to have Umar file a formal application seeking to be enjoined as an interested party in the case.

Magistrate Ogoti said that Umar’s application should be filed together her responses adding that the application to be enjoined should be argued on March 6, this year.

In the case, Governor Roba has been sued by a resident, Simba Hasheem, from Mandera County over misappropriation of Sh56 million county funds alongside three other county officials.

Hasheem wants criminal charges preferred against the four over complaints of misuse of funds, abuse of office and breach of procurement.

The three other officials are Ibrahim Hassan, Alinoor Mohamed Ali and Okash Abdullahi Adan.

The resident claimed that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has failed to take action against the four over alleged misappropriation of funds.

The petitioner claimed that the four unlawfully procured armored vehicles at Sh16 million and the provision of ambulance services to Kenya Red Cross Society at Sh40 million.

Hasheem who appeared before the anti-corruption court was directed to serve the respondents with the court papers ahead of the hearing.

The matter will be heard on March 6.
