Following a fourth legislative kick back of the two thirds gender bill on Wednesday this week, Nakuru Woman Representative Liza Chelule says as women legislators they are set to continue pushing until the gender bill sails through no matter how many obstacles it will find. The four time failed bill seeks to bridge the gender disparity in the house and it seeks to amend articles 81 (b) to have parliament conform to the two thirds gender principle.

Addressing media in Nakuru on Friday, the legislator stated that it was so unfortunate that the Bill has taken long in the house before it can be passed. The 2/3rds gender bill has suffered kickbacks over quorum and other setbacks for the past eight years, the fourth time this week sent it to the wardrobes until six months.

Failure by women MPs to lobby their male colleagues for support and absence of majority of women Members of parliaments in parliament saw the elusive two-thirds gender rule bill flop for a record fourth time on February 27. Out of the 76 women members of parliament of the nominated, directly elected and women representatives, only 31 were present to drum up support for the gender bill.
