BASATA revokes license of top Tanzanian Artist Dudu Baya for misusing social media

The Tanzanian art Council has announced that they have revoked the license of a top Tanzanian artist Godfrey Tumaini famously known as Dudu Baya.

The Singer is reported to have criticized the late clouds Media group co founder Ruge  Mutahaba before and after his death.

Dudu Baya is accused of using social media to send inappropriate messages.

The Minister of Information, Culture and Sport Dk. Harrison Mwakyembe had earlier called upon BASATA and  and the police to take action against the musician.

In a statement issued by BASATA on the 28th February 2019, the council officially announced that the license of the artist has been revoked after he was arrested by the police.

The Art Council also added that when they license artists and musicians they expect them to serve as a good example and role models in the society.

BASATA says that the action they took was a move to stand in solidarity with other artists who stood to call Dudu Baya out over his statemente on social media.

The Tanzanian art council also reminded other Tanzanian artist that there is a need to honour the regulations set by the council.
