Sonko introuble as workers strike

Nairobi County Clinical workers started their strike as they demanded promotions, re-designation, signing of a recognition agreement and change in their health insurance provider.

While speaking outside City Hall, their secretary general Tom Nyakaba said, “We are not ready to retreat or surrender. We have met some few guys from the county including the Chief of Staff, Health CEC and assembly’s health department, but we have said if our grievances will not be addressed in full we are not going to resume duty.”

“County officials have shown us that they are not people to be trusted. They don’t have good faith and we are not going to try and imagine they will have it,” he said.

Their strike comes barely a week after county workers resumed duty after suspending their strike for 21 days to allow for dialogue with the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
