President Kenyatta exudes confidence on the capacity of the Judiciary

President Uhuru Kenyatta has today exuded confidence on the capacity of the Judiciary.

This was during the official presentation of the State of Judiciary and Administration of Justice Report at Supreme Court of Kenya .

The head of state mentioned that he is confident, the Judiciary has the capacity to soar to great heights, and be a continental and global leader.

He also added that the Executive is ready and willing to give the Judiciary all the support it requires as they embark on their journey of positive transformation.

President Kenyatta said that there is no doubt since 2010, that Kenya’s Judiciary has changed a great deal in terms of Human Resource Capacity, Physical Infrastructure, and in several other aspects, all intended to ensure that those who sit on the bench meet a high level of integrity

He also mentioned that Kenyans expect more from their Judiciary because they know that the Judiciary has, within itself the capacity to meet and exceed their expectations.

“To meet the expectations of our people, we must respect our respective constitutional roles, while at the same time we must speak clearly and truthfully to one another” he said

Uhuru also urged the Judiciary to continue to play its rightful role while strictly respecting the Constitutional separation of roles and powers.

In particular, he asked them to refrain from setting policy as this is the role of the Executive; refrain from making law as this is the work of the Legislature.

“Kenyans are crying out for: action against those misappropriating public resources; protection from the terrorists; and for justice to be done and be seen to be done ” he added

The head of state reiterated that no Kenyan should be above the law.
