After the Senate demanded that the suspension of the National Integrated Identity Management System (NIMS) that will give citizen identity by the Huduma Namba, Interior CS Fred atiang’i in his capacity as head of government projects has said that the project will still carry on.
Matiang’I held to his stand that the roll-out will go on as planned in all the 10,000 sub locations across the country on March 15, 2019.
He has at the same time mentioned that even as there are questions that have risen, he is together with his team ready and willing to answer to the court.
“I know there are issues that have been raised in court and we will go there and explain ourselves and I am confident that we will be fine,” he said.
Senators suspended the new system after CS Matiang’i failed to show up at a Senate committee he was to appear in order to explain the NIIMS system. The senators dismissed it, terming it as a mysterious system.
