The mother of President Uhuru Kenyatta, Mama Ngina Kenyatta is risking arrest after a family in Gatundu sues her in court.
The family claims that Ngina was trying to grab their 1.1-acre piece of land in Gatundu through intimidation and deception.
According to Lucy Njeri, Esther Nyokabi, and Daniel Muiruri, Mama Ngina Kenyatta allegedly used corrupt lands officials to transfer the piece of land to their mother whom she eventually forced to sell her at a cost of Ksh 20 million.
The piece of land is located right in front of the gate of the late Jomo Kenyatta in Gatundu, Kiambu county. The 3 above believe that Mama Ngina arm-twisted their mother to sell the piece after using lands officials to manipulate records to show that their mother Virginia Njoroge was the registered owner while in reality, their father, Dr. John Njoroge Muiruri died without a will and before transferring the said piece of land.
Lucy, Esther, and Daniel allege that if their father was alive and did the transaction, they’d not have a problem since that was his property. However, they allege that they never knew or consented to the transfer as they only found out in February that the property was secretly sold off in October 2018.
Even Daniel who is said to be Virginia’s favorite child didn’t know of the transaction until 6th of February when senior police officers in the new blue uniforms started visiting the property claiming that they needed the tenants to vacate as they planned to construct a police post to protect Mama Ngina and her family.
The piece of land was sold to the Kenyatta family which is holding it through their holding company, Southbrook Holdings Limited.
Documents in our possession indicate that now Lucy, Esther and Daniel Muiruri have gone to court demanding to stop the transfer. They have injunctions from the Environmental and Lands Tribunal as well as another from the Business Premises and Rent Tribunal, all stopping the eviction until the matter is heard and determined.
Another group of 4 landowners from the area allege that Mama Ngina is treating them badly while demanding that they get out of their properties and be paid Ksh 1.5 million despite valuers putting their land at not less than Ksh 14 million in value.
The matter comes up for hearing on 11th March.
