‘It isn’t about Lungula tourism !’ Uganda Mps argue as Miss Curvy ban lifted

The Ugandan parliament has lifted ban against the controversial Miss Curvy ban insisting that the project isn’t about exchanging their women for monetary values.

The Ugandan Parliament Speaker Rebecca Kadaga lifted ban on Miss Curvy contest after contestants storm her office .

The pageantry which had been banned earlier over claims it was just about immorality was finally given a nod by Uganda’s Speaker Rebecca Kadaga.

The Miss Curvy pageantry had created quite a buzz in the country with countless people condemning the idea claiming the organisers wanted to use of women bodies all in the name of promoting tourism.

Well, tables turned on Wednesday, February 27, morning after organisers of the event and countless contestants stormed Uganda’s parliament and petitioned the speaker to raise the ban and drop the misconception that the whole idea is immoral.

Their plea was heard, the speaker raised the ban and duly apologised to the organisers adding she initially misinterpreted the idea.

“I misunderstood the pageant after the protest it faced from the public but now that I have understood what it’s about, it is okay. You can go ahead and organize the event,” Kadaga told the organisers and contestants during her address.

The speaker on Monday, February 25, protested against the Miss Curvy and accused the organisers of hiding behind the event as they promote immorality.
