Joseph Kamaru’s widow has passed on a few months after the death of the veteran Kikuyu singer. Susan Wangari Kamaru, according to family members, died of cardiac arrest.
Her son Boniface Macharia confirmed the death as he disclosed she died on Saturday, February 23, at her daughter’s home in Rongai.
Susan’s death comes four months after her husband, the legendary Kikuyu benga hit-maker, died.
Kamaru, who was often touted as the King of benga in the vast Mount Kenya region, died at the age of 79 on the night of Wednesday, October 3, at MP Shah Hospital, Nairobi, where he was undergoing treatment.
He was laid to rest in Muthithi village, Murang’a in a solemn occasion that was attended by big names including President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.
